Floats for walking on water
Leonardo describes the drawing in the Codex Atlanticus with the words: “Way of walking on water”. The small figure shows a man in the act of walking by keeping afloat over the surface of water.
This is made possible by the inflated skins full of air attached to his feet and to the lower hands of the two poles that he holds in his hands.
This equipment allows the man to float, to keep his stability and to slide on water. This device works according to the principle of Archimedes: the dimensions of the inflated skins are such that they move a sufficient quantity of water in order to counter - balance the weight of the man.
