Earth Machine

The machines that fall into this category and are hosted by the Museum are eleven and they are all functional. Difficult to determine which of these are of greater importance ... all have a value in use is very important.

The process started by Leonardo, still in its infancy, to see the application of machinery to the work of man in order to achieve the automation of production activities in a number of different areas.

Press for oil

The press for oil is designed for the squeezing of olives and constitutes an example of mechanization of agricultural processes. The horizontal lever is curved towards the ground

Revolving Crane

This hoisting machine can rotate 360 degrees. The complete revolution around the vertical axis is made possible by a series of rollers placed between the octagonal base

To raise columns

Draft of a put machinery to point for l' elevation of columns . The machine works with a system that arranges the horizontal movement of an undercarriage on wheels

Robot

Leonardo da Vinci’s automaton is moved by a system of ropes and pulleys. It conveys the idea of a mechanical model of the human body, such as Leonardo has conceived as a result

Rolling Mill

With the rolling mill it is possible to shape metals: the revolving cylinders press and level out the metal sheet in an even way. The device is extremely well fit

Odometer

Every time the central wheel rotating on the ground completes a revolution, the small vertical toothed wheel moves one notch forward. In turn, the horizontal toothed wheel on tops

Printing Machine

This process sees the application of machines to human labour and achieves the automation of the printing machine. The manual printing operations are performed by the machine

Bicycle

During the year 1966,  the monks of the restoration laboratory in Grottaferrata (Rome), were entrusted with the mandate to renovate the Atlantic Code of Leonardo Da Vinci

Eccentric cam

The crank transmits its rotary motion directly to the eccentric cam so that, by turning,  the cam gradually shifts the lever, causing the hammer to rise. When the extremity of the lever

Crane Up

This machine was used to dig the beds or rivers to divert. It's a huge crane double arm, which works like an elevator, when a containor is full of earth is lifted on the high ground by
